Nayab Singh Saini, the newly appointed chief minister of Haryana, comes from the OBC community. Nayab Singh Saini (born 25 January 1970) is an Indian politician serving as the 11th and the incumbent Chief Minister of Haryana since 12th March 2024 and the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Haryana since 2023.
NEW DELHI: In a latest development in Haryana’s political landscape, state BJP president and Kurukshetra MP Nayab Singh Saini was sworn in as the new chief minister of the state after Manohar Lal Khattar met governor Bandaru Dattatreya and resigned along with his cabinet ministers.
Who is Nayab Singh Saini
Nayab Singh Saini comes from the OBC community and last year he was made the state president of BJP Haryana.Nayab Singh Saini is considered a confidant of former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Saini has long experience of working in the organisation. In 1996, he was given responsibility in the organization of Haryana BJP. After that, in the year 2002, Nayab Singh Saini became the district general secretary of Ambala BJP Yuva Morcha.
In the year 2005, Nayab Singh Saini became the district president of BJP Ambala Yuva Morcha. He was also made the state general secretary of BJP Haryana Kisan Morcha. In the year 2012, Nayab Saini was promoted and was made the district president of Ambala. In the 2014 assembly elections, Nayab Singh Saini was given ticket from Naraingarh and he reached the assembly after winning.
The new government will be backed by six independent lawmakers and, potentially, five from the JJP of now ex-Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, who are set to cross but are not expected to get cabinet berths. The BJP has 41 MLAs in the 90-member House, in which the majority mark is set at 46.
A floor test, which will most likely be a routine procedure – is scheduled for 11 am Wednesday.
Mr Khattar’s stepping down – and that of his ministers – followed a breakdown of the ruling BJP-JJP alliance over failed seat-sharing talks for the Lok Sabha election. However, the swapping of a chief minister has also been seen as another chapter in the BJP’s well-worn election playbook.

Nayab Singh Saini was born in a small village of Mizapur Majra in Ambala, Haryana, India. on 25 January 1970 in a Haryanvi Saini family.

He graduated with a B.A. From BR Ambedkar, University Mujapharpur in July, 1996 And LLB From Choudhary Charan Singh University, Merrut (UP) in the year 2010.
Nayab Singh Saini: Political career
2014 : Elected as MLA from Naraingarh.
2016 : Joined Khattar cabinet as minister.
2019 : Won Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency by massive 3.85 lakh votes.
2023 : Appointed as Haryana BJP president.
2024 : Now the next CM of Haryana.
He contested the election in Naraingarh constituency in 2010 but was defeated by Ramkishan Gurjar, registering 3,028 votes of the 116,039 total votes polled. In 2014, he won the election by 24,361 votes. He was a state minister of Haryana Government.
In 2019 Indian general election he was elected as Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra.
BJP state president Nayab Singh Saini was declared the new chief minister of Haryana on 12 March 2024 hours after Manohar Lal Khattar announced his resignation as Haryana Chief Minister before Lok Sabha Polls 2024.
While JP Dalal (Loharu segment) and Ranjit Chautala (Rania) come from the Jat community, Mool Chand Sharma (Ballabhgarh) is a Brahmin face. Kanwar Pal (Jagadhri) comes from Gujjar community and Banwari Lal (Bawal) from the SC community.
The others from the Manohar Lal Khattar Cabinet – Anil Vij, Kamal Gupta, Om Prakash Yadav, Kamlesh Dhanda, and Sandeep Singh – have not been included in the new Cabinet. JJP MLAs Dushyant Chautala, Davinder Babli and Anoop Dhanak were other ministers in the Khattar government.
At present, the BJP has 41 MLAs in the 90-member assembly while the JJP has 10. The main opposition Congress has 30 MLAs while the Indian National Lok Dal and Haryana Lokhit Party one seat each.
